Overview

Bead Mills are used in many manufacturing processes to reduce material particles to a specific micron size.

Milling (or wet grinding) is an aggressive process involving the agitation of small metal or glass beads in a chamber to mechanically break down media that is often very viscous and has a tendency to set if temperature and flow are not controlled or the mill is not cleaned out properly between batches.

Consequently, specially designed mechanical seals are required incorporating:

  • A double seal configuration
  • An inboard ‘rotating seat’ to prevent hang up and clogging
  • Wetted parts made from materials resistant to abrasion and chemical attack
  • An independent seal support system
  • Control of sealant pressure, temperature and flow
