The Problem

A pharmaceuticals manufacturer in Ireland required more reliable and cost effective support to overhaul a Flowserve Mixerpac double dry contacting mechanical seal cartridge fitted to a Comber Filter Dryer.

The Solution

NASH made all necessary arrangements to ship the spare seal cartridge to the UK for overhaul.

The unit was stripped down and inspected. All 4 seal faces were badly worn and there was evidence the inboard dynamic elastomer had ‘hung up’.

The seal was repaired to original specification with all new faces, elastomers, springs, bearing, lip seals and fasteners.

The unit was tested and returned to site complete with test certificate and all material certification.

As part of the NASH service, the team considered how the best integrity and maximum life of the seal could be achieved while in use.

As a key part of this review, the user was advised to check the integrity of the nitrogen gas supply and ensure all pressure and flow switches were in good working order and set correctly prior to re-commissioning the seal on the filter dryer.
