The Problem
A pharmaceuticals manufacturer required support to repair a Crane GMBBT32-60 contacting gas lubricated double mechanical seal unit.
The seal had not failed in service but needed refurbishing as part of a programme to upgrade the filter dryer unit.
The Solution
Working with a filter dryer specialist, the seal was sent to NASH for assessment.
The seal was last repaired by NASH in 2005 and was generally in good condition. However, the main sleeve had spun in the inner bearing race due to lack of bearing lubrication.

The seal cartridge was repaired with new rotary faces, elastomers, springs, sleeve, bearing and lip seals and tested before being returned to be refitted to the filter dryer.
