Case Studies

The Problem

A pharmaceuticals manufacturer based in Ireland needed assistance to repair, modify and dynamically test 6 (six) John Crane CK738G dual gas lift off mechanical seal cartridges, shaft sizes 80, 100 and 125mm. The production schedule dictated that the seals were required back on site in under 4 weeks.

The Solution

All 6 seal cartridges were sent to Nash for evaluation.

The seals were generally in good condition. However, in several cases, the inboard seal lift off face geometry was damaged.

The seals were repaired with replacement inboard faces as required. All outboard faces were modified from lift of to dry contacting at the request of the client.

The seals were assembled with all new springs, elastomers and fasteners.

.

Finally, each seal was dynamically tested to verify performance prior to shipment.

The Benefits

The client benefited from a premium service which ensured all 6 seals were repaired and modified within the required 4 weeks.

No other company was able to meet this requirement.

All 6 reactors were recommissioned on schedule and the client also now enjoys the benefit of a 50% reduction in nitrogen consumption.

NASH carries stocks of faces for all sizes and configurations of John Crane CK738 enabling a responsive, dependable service for this type of mechanical seal.
