The Problem
A Burgmann Seccomix gas lubricated seal was leaking on a Rosenmund dryer.
The client was desperate to have it repaired in a 3 week shut down period prior to a major uplift in production and before contacting NASH, no other company had been able to meet this requirement.
A site inspection confirmed the leak and that there was also heavy wear of the dryer shaft and seal sleeve.
The Solution
NASH prepared by sourcing all anticipated spares during the 4 weeks before the shut down. The seal and shaft were removed by the OEM and sent to NASH.
The seal was stripped, inspected and repaired in 2 weeks, including bronze spraying of sleeve internal bearing lands - see full inspection report.
.
The shaft was found to be bent and scored and was metal sprayed and re-ground to correct both problems. The shaft and seal were returned to site and the dryer was reassembled and recommissioned within the required time frame.
The Benefits
NASH was able to provide the client with a high quality, responsive service that met their needs.
Proper planning and many years of experience ensured that the repair went well, even when the unanticipated problem of a bent shaft was discovered.
To date, the seal and dryer have run trouble free.
